SUBTOPIC 4b - Clearly Define the Geology ofSelected Oil (Tar) SandsDeposits (DE-PS26-05NT42317-04b)The purpose of this topic is to better define the reserves, allow theapplicants to work with state agencies and others, and involve aspects oftheapplicant?s geology department. The specific interest is to quantitativelydefine the bitumen resource within specific U.S. oil sands deposits of theapplicants choice to perform quantitative geological studies to define theresource (from well logs, maps, core analysis etc.), grade and location ofthebitumen ore, depositional environment, overburden, resource and surfaceownership, and other factors (including absence of data) that would berequiredfor either surface extraction and/or insitu extraction of bitumen from thedeposit. These studies can be in combination with state agencies and or privateinstitutions that could help fund and or supply data in defining theresource.Of importance is the training of students in researching previous geologicstudies and applying geological evaluation techniques that they havelearnedfrom course work to evaluate a prospect or site by development of acompletequantitative electronic data package that could be used for future economicstudy.ALL QUESTIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED THROUGH THE ?SUBMIT QUESTION?
